Free Crochet Pattern: Wreath

This crochet pattern is simple and worked in rounds. I use abbreviations according to UK crochet language. The finished wreath is approximately 22cm (8.75") in diameter. This wreath could make a beautiful Christmas decoration if adorned with holly, mistletoe and ivy (all these patterns are featured in my Christmas Crochet Pattern E-Book).

Tools Needed:
3mm crochet hook
scissors
yarn needle


Other Materials Needed:
polyester/toy stuffing (approx. 33g)

4ply/fingering weight cotton yarn in green, brown or whatever colour you prefer (approx. 45g)


Abbreviations:
ch = chain
tr = treble crochet
tr2tog = treble crochet two stitches together (decrease)
sl st = slipstitch
sts = stitches
R = round or row
[...] = repeat instructions in square brackets

Wreath 

Using the 3mm crochet hook make a slipknot and ch 103. 

R1 – I tr in third ch from hook, [ 4 tr, 2 tr in next ch] x 19, 5 tr in last five ch. (120 sts) 
Fasten off and sew ends together to form a circle. 

R2 – Rejoin yarn anywhere on circle. 
Ch 3 (counts as first tr), [ 5tr, 2 tr in next st] x 20, sl st in third of 3 ch.
(140 sts) 

R3 – Ch 3 (counts as first tr), [6 tr, 2 tr in next st] x 20, sl st in third of 3 ch. (160 sts) 

R4 - Ch 3 (counts as first tr), [7 tr, 2 tr in next st] x 20, sl st in third of 3 ch. (180 sts) 

R5 - Ch 3 (counts as first tr), [8 tr, 2 tr in next st] x 20, sl st in third of 3 ch. (200 sts) 

R6 – Ch 3 (counts as first tr), 1 tr in each st. (200sts)

R7 - Ch 3 (counts as first tr), [8 tr, tr2tog] x 20, sl st in third of 3 ch. (180 sts) 

R8 - Ch 3 (counts as first tr), [7 tr, tr2tog] x 20, sl st in third of 3 ch. (160 sts) 

R9 - Ch 3 (counts as first tr), [6 tr, tr2tog] x 20, sl st in third of 3 ch. (140 sts) 

R10 - Ch 3 (counts as first tr), [5 tr, tr2tog] x 20, sl st in third of 3 ch.
(120 sts) 

R11 - Ch 3 (counts as first tr), [4 tr, tr2tog] x 20, sl st in third of 3 ch. (100 sts) 

Fasten off. Sew inner edges together stuffing as you go to make a firm wreath.
