Free Crochet Pattern: Amigurumi Cap and Scarf

This pattern is simple and would be suitable for a crochet beginner. I use abbreviations according to UK crochet language. The finished cap is approximately 6cm (2.5”) diameter and the finished scarf is approximately 36cm (14”) long. These items would be perfect accessories for amigurumi animals and toys.




Tools needed:
3.5mm (US size E) crochet hook
scissors
yarn needle





Yarn needed:

DK yarn in your choice of colour (approx 8g)

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
tr = treble crochet
dtr = double treble crochet
trtr = triple treble crochet
dc2tog = double crochet two stitches together (decrease)
sts = stitches
[…] = repeat instructions in square brackets
R = round

Cap:

Make a slipknot. Ch 2.

R1
- 10 dc into first ch. (10 sts)

R2
- 2 dc into each st. (20 sts)


R3
- [1 dc, 2 dc in next st] x 10. (30 sts)

R4
- [2 dc, 2 dc in next st] x 10. (40 sts)

R5 to R6
- 1dc into each st. (40 sts)

R7
- 1 tr into each st. (40 sts)

R8
- 1 tr, 2 dtr, 2dtr in next st, 3 trtr, 2 trtr in next st, 3 dtr, 1 dtr and 1 tr in next st, [2 dc, dc2tog] x 7.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Scarf:

Make a slipknot. Ch 70.

1ch, 70 dc back along chain.

Turn, 1 ch, 70 dc.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
