I made this project a few weeks back but it was a surprise for my lovely husband and so I haven't been able to share it with you until now.
The pattern was Let it Snow ear flap hat by Daphne Adair, you can get it free here on Ravelry. It was fairly easy to knit up, although you do need to be able to use double pointed needles. It uses DK yarn.
I think it is a success as he has worn the hat almost every day since he got it!
